Notes began as a coffee cart and grew into rooms that take wine as seriously as espresso, which is why this one is open until nine on a Monday and ten at the end of the week - unusual for a coffee bar and useful on a street that empties out of theatres at half past ten.
The beans are roasted by Notes themselves, and the same counter does pastries in the morning and small plates in the evening.
