Ninety plaques by Alec Peever, each with a rose at its centre, are set into the paths of St James's Park, Green Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, and following them makes a loop of about seven miles that never leaves grass and trees for more than a street crossing. The route passes the palaces and houses of Diana's London - Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, St James's Palace and Spencer House - and her fountain and playground along the way, but the point of it is the walk itself: the lake in St James's Park, the Serpentine, the Long Water, the Round Pond, with a bench and a cafe never far off. Opened on 30 June 2000, and there is no need to do it in one go; it can be picked up at any plaque and left at any gate.
