Windsor was where Elizabeth II spent the war as a child, most weekends of her reign and the pandemic, and where she chose to be buried: the King George VI Memorial Chapel off the north aisle of St George's has her, Philip, her parents and Margaret's ashes under one black stone. The chapel also held Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 and Philip's funeral in 2020, the Queen alone in her pew; the State Apartments hold the Waterloo Chamber, St George's Hall rebuilt after the 1992 fire and Queen Mary's dolls' house, and the Changing of the Guard happens in the quadrangle. William and Catherine live in the park since 2022.

Direct trains from Waterloo; Paddington via Slough is the alternative. St George's Chapel closes to visitors on Sundays for services.
