Canary Wharf with Stefan

The docks under the towers: sugar and tobacco warehouses, dockers' lodgings, and a wall left standing by a fire.

Walking

Canary Wharf reads as if it arrived in 1988 with nothing underneath it, and Stefan's walk is about how much of the dock is still there in plain sight - the surviving Georgian warehouses built for sugar and tobacco, where the men who unloaded the ships lived and where their masters lived, and a wall that is all a fire left behind.

He sets his own experience of homelessness beside it, which on this ground is pointed: the docks were built on casual labour hired by the day, and the question of who a boom is for is the same question.

Unseen Tours' guides have all experienced homelessness and are paid for the walk. Starts and ends at the same place.
