In its twenty-seventh year at the Lyceum, and still the best-looking thing in the West End.
Family friendly
At Lyceum Theatre.
Julie Taymor's staging is the reason it has lasted: the animals are puppets worn by visible performers rather than costumes pretending otherwise, so you watch the actor and the animal at the same time and stop choosing between them. The opening number brings the whole savannah down the aisles. Matinees at 14:30 and evenings at 19:30, most days; more dates go on sale in batches.
