Eight weeks of orchestral concerts, and standing tickets for the price of a pint.
FestivalClassicalAnnual event
The largest classical music festival in the world, running from mid-July to mid-September at the Royal Albert Hall, with fifty-odd concerts across the season plus chamber recitals and family Proms. The point of it is promming: a few thousand standing places in the arena and the gallery released on the day for a few pounds. There is nowhere cheaper to hear the Berlin Philharmonic. The Last Night is the one that sells out; almost everything else is gettable.
The full programme, dates and booking are on the BBC's own listing rather than repeated here, because it changes nightly.
