Hidden London: Moorgate — Metropolitan maze

Disused tracks and vintage tiling left over from 160 years of rebuilds.

Guided tourHistoryUnderground

Hidden London is the London Transport Museum's programme of guided tours into parts of the Underground that passengers never see: stations closed decades ago, passages sealed off during rebuilds, and deep-level wartime shelters. A guide takes you down in a small group, and the museum runs each tour on a handful of dates that are released in batches and sell out quickly, so these are booked ahead rather than turned up for.

Moorgate has been rebuilt so often since 1865 that the leftovers form a maze. You walk along disused tracks, past passenger corridors with their original glass tiles and posters, and through spaces ingeniously repurposed as the City grew around them - it served as a freight terminal for decades. 80 minutes, meeting outside the News Update newsagents. Selected dates to 14 March 2027.
