Two days: Sunday is Children's Day and the gentler of them, Monday is the adults' parade. Mas bands in costume, steel pan, and static sound systems on street corners playing everything from dub to soca — the sound systems are the reason to go, and each has its own crowd. Jerk chicken and rum punch the length of the route.
Running since 1966, out of the Caribbean communities who settled here. It is free, it is very crowded, and the Tube stations nearest it close or go exit-only, so plan how you leave.
