Open City's festival opens up buildings across all 33 boroughs, free: private houses, City towers, livery halls, engine rooms, council estates and the odd government department, most of which are shut for the other 356 days. Some sites are walk-up, the popular ones ballot weeks ahead, and the programme goes live shortly before. It has no single address - this pin sits at Charing Cross because that is the point London measures its distances from, not because anything happens there.
