The Lanesborough is the old St George's Hospital, built in the 1820s by William Wilkins - who also designed the National Gallery - and run as a hospital until 1980. The Withdrawing Room is done in the Regency manner the building came from, and the name is the eighteenth-century one: the room the company withdrew to.
The tea changes theme through the year rather than staying fixed, which is unusual at this end of the market and is either the appeal or the objection depending on your view of a themed cake.
