Seven artists shortlisted for a £50,000 grant, shown together for ten days.
Art & designFree
The David and Yuko Juda Art Foundation gives £50,000 to a living artist each year, and invites a guest curator to draw up the shortlist; this year it is Alyce Mahon, professor of modern and contemporary art history at Cambridge. The seven are Laia Abril, Aziza Kadyri, Amak Mahmoodian, Niamh O'Malley, Ro Robertson, Soheila Sokhanvari and Olivia Sterling, each showing recent work — Abril a photo-sculpture varnished with her own tears, Kadyri a hand-embroidered altar to the vanished Aral Sea, Mahmoodian photographs and a poem made with dreamers from fourteen countries. The winner is announced on the opening evening. Free.
