Shani Rhys James paints the female figure, often herself, inside domestic interiors where wallpaper, upholstery and cut flowers crowd forward until the portrait and the room stop being separable. The title comes from a 1963 Australian film by the feminist writer Beatrice Faust, which Rhys James appeared in as a child. New paintings, and her eighth solo show at this gallery. Free.
