At The Approach.
Olivia Jia paints tableaux that do not exist: a desk or a display case strewn with books, manuscripts and photographs, borrowing the plinths and shelves and bindings that institutions use to organise knowledge, and filling them with ephemera from her own Chinese-American family. She works from a personal archive and paints slowly. The gallery is on the first floor of the Approach Tavern, up the stairs from the bar. Free.
