Poole's moved to Savile Row in 1846 and is the reason the others followed. In 1865 the Prince of Wales asked for a short blue evening coat to wear at Sandringham instead of tails; an American guest saw it, had it copied at home, and the garment took the name of his country club at Tuxedo Park. The order book survives.
The firm holds warrants going back to Queen Victoria and is still owned by the founding family's descendants.
