Founded in 1853, Maggs has handled some of the most valuable books and manuscripts sold in the last century - it bought the Codex Sinaiticus from the Soviet government in 1933 on behalf of the British Museum.
The move to Bedford Square put it in exactly the right building: a Georgian terraced house with the stock arranged over several floors. Ring the bell and go in.
