London's oldest clothes market on Sunday mornings, and a weekday street-food court on Wentworth Street the rest of the week.
A market since the 1650s, named for the petticoats sold on it; the street was renamed Middlesex Street in the nineteenth century to lose the undergarment, and nobody took any notice. Sunday is its day, a habit of the Jewish traders who could not work Saturdays, made legal by Parliament in 1936: hundreds of stalls of clothing, accessories, toys and perfume along Middlesex Street and Wentworth Street. On weekdays the reason to come is the food court on Wentworth Street and Goulston Street, lunch from a dozen kitchens for the offices on the City side of the road.
