William Heath Robinson lived in Pinner from 1908 to 1918, and the museum built in the memorial park in 2016 holds a thousand of his works: the contraptions of pulleys, string and patient men that made a Heath Robinson affair a phrase in the dictionary, but also the illustrated Shakespeare, Kipling and Hans Andersen, the children's books and the wartime cartoons. The drawings reward close looking, which is what a small gallery is for.
