Frida: The Making of an Icon

Thirty Kahlo paintings, her clothes and jewellery, and the two hundred objects that made her a brand.

Art & design

At Tate Modern.

Tate Modern's Kahlo show sets over thirty of her paintings beside her garments, jewellery, photographs and memorabilia, then follows what happened next: some two hundred works by later artists who took her up, and a final room the Gallery calls Fridamania, two hundred commercial objects carrying her face. As much about the icon as the painter: the show is built around how the image was made and spread. £25, free for Members.
