The largest tennis museum in the world, inside the All England Club, with the trophies and a window onto Centre Court.
The All England Club opened its museum in 1977 for the centenary of the Championships and rebuilt it in 2006, and it is the largest museum of the game anywhere. The cases run from real tennis in the 1550s through the lawn game invented in the 1870s to the present: the trophies, kit from ankle-length skirts to carbon fibre, the racquets and rituals, and a gallery of the champions, with a film theatre that puts you on Centre Court during a final and a projection of John McEnroe haunting the rooms the public never reaches. A window looks straight onto Centre Court, and the ticket can be combined with a guided tour of the grounds. It closes to all but ticket holders for the fortnight of the Championships.
