The Wimbledon Society has kept the village's museum since 1916, in rooms at 22 Ridgway above the town, and its volunteers still open it on weekend afternoons. It runs from Caesar's Camp, the Iron Age fort on the common that has nothing to do with Caesar, through the manor and the great houses on Parkside, the windmill of 1817 where Baden-Powell wrote part of Scouting for Boys, and the village of shops and pubs, to the club down the hill that gave its name to a tennis tournament. The Norman Plastow Gallery next door shows photographs and local art. Entry is free.
