Rugby's memory, 37,000 pieces of it, under the South Stand at Twickenham.

The Rugby Football Union keeps the game's history under the South Stand of its own stadium: 37,000 boots, balls, jerseys, programmes and tickets, the largest collection of rugby memorabilia anywhere. It opened in 1996 and was rebuilt in 2018 into rooms that follow the game from the schoolboy legend at Rugby in 1823 to the professional era: the 1871 Room for the first international, played between Scotland and England in Edinburgh that March; the amateurs and the professionals, and the split with the northern clubs that made rugby league; rugby in the wars; the Six Nations and the World Cup; and a gallery that tests what kind of player you would be. Most visitors pair it with the stadium tour, which walks the dressing rooms and the tunnel.
