The Heath is not a park so much as a piece of surviving country that London grew around: unmown meadow, ancient hedgerow, oak and hornbeam you can genuinely get lost in, and thirty ponds. It is unfenced and ungated, so there is nothing to shut at night. Parliament Hill gives you the whole city in one look, and Kenwood at the north end is a free house full of Rembrandts and Vermeers with a Robert Adam library.
