The room was a bank before the hotel took it and it still has the ceiling for it, though nothing about the service is grand. Anthony Demetre cooks generously and without display - a terrine en croute of duck, pork and guinea fowl, rabbit from the Loire - and the custard tart is the house speciality and has never needed changing.
