Burlington House has been the Society's home since 1857, and it was here on 1 July 1858 that the joint Darwin and Wallace papers on natural selection were read out — to an audience that made so little of them that the president reported at the end of the year that nothing much had happened. The library and the Meeting Room, hung with portraits of Linnaeus, Darwin and Wallace, are open from 10:00 to 17:00, with nature craft, a family trail, archive displays and the new exhibition Herbarium: Plants in a New Light. Free, drop in.
