Mary Quant opened Bazaar here in 1955 and the street stayed the place for clothes through punk, which was born at Vivienne Westwood's shop at number 430. It is calmer now: fashion chains at the Sloane Square end, interiors and design showrooms towards World's End, and the Saatchi Gallery in the Duke of York's Headquarters halfway along.
