Guided tours worth booking: walks led by people who know the streets, and the bus, river and cycling tours that earn their fare. Each is drawn on the map as the ground it covers, from where it meets.
Cholera, John Snow and the pump that proved how disease travels, among the side streets of Soho.
Every Sunday, 14:00Walking
Soho in the nineteenth century was overcrowded, insanitary and the site of the outbreak that changed medicine: John Snow mapped the cholera deaths around Broad Street and worked out that the water, not the air, was carrying it. The walk covers that and the rest of Soho's disreputable history in the side streets and buildings most people pass without looking at.
