CUD came out of the Leeds art-school scene that also produced Soft Cell and the Mekons, and were first noticed for a Peel session cover of You Sexy Thing. Leggy Mambo got them a major-label deal, and Rich and Strange and Purple Love Balloon got them into the Top 30 before they stopped in 1995. Carl Puttnam still sings; Mike Dunphy still writes the songs. 19:30, £27.50.
