Thomas Verity's 1881 house off the Haymarket, renamed in 2011 for the playwright whose work it kept staging.

Verity opened it in October 1881 and it held 1,186 then; widening the seats over a century has brought it down to 796. It is historically protected.
It took Pinter's name in 2011, two years after his death, which is unusually direct for the West End - most renamings honour a manager or a backer. Plays rather than musicals, and often the difficult ones.
