GigsWorth it for the building
Jeremy Norman opened it in December 1979 in the Adelphi Arches, a wine cellar built for the hotel above and by then a club called Global Village. What he wanted was a room to match the Saint in New York, and what existed here before it were small hidden basement bars and pub discos; Heaven is the reason that changed. It holds a little over seventeen hundred, and the arches give it a low brick ceiling that most rooms this size would kill for.
G-A-Y moved in from the Astoria in October 2008 and is still the Saturday. The rest of the week is club nights and touring bands, and the stage has taken acts far outside the club's own scene.
