Performance venues

London's stages, concert rooms and cinemas: the West End houses and the playhouses that make their own shows, the grand halls, the churches with a musical life, the jazz basements, the comedy clubs, the repertory and arthouse cinemas, the clubs proper, and the rooms above pubs where things start. What is on is listed under each venue, and in What's On.

What is on at them this week is in What's On: Performance

Peckhamplex

An independent multiplex on Rye Lane where every ticket is £6.99.

Cinemas

Not an arthouse: Peckhamplex shows what everyone else shows, on several screens, at the times you would expect. What makes it worth knowing about is the price, which is a flat £6.99 whatever the film, whatever the day and whatever the time - roughly a third of what central London charges - and the fact that it has stayed independent while doing it.

Around the main programme it runs the things a chain often drops: screenings for parents with babies, autism-friendly screenings, subtitled screenings for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, National Theatre broadcasts, gallery exhibitions filmed for the screen, and seasons of its own.
