Russell T Davies: The Queerest of Folk

A life in television, from Queer as Folk to Doctor Who, told by the man who wrote it.

Lecture / talkBooks & writers

At Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

Davies has just published The Queerest of Folk: A Life in Television, and the evening is built on it: a guest host, a conversation, and then questions from the room. Queer as Folk put gay lives on Channel 4 in 1999 when British drama would not; the Doctor Who he brought back in 2005 carried them into Saturday teatime; It's a Sin in 2021 went at the AIDS years directly. What he has said he wants to talk about is how any of that got commissioned - the arguments, the ones that nearly did not happen, and the scenes that changed what television would carry. Seats in bands A and B come with a copy of the book. From £38.50, ages 16 and up.
