Wren thought this the best of his parish churches and said so, which is worth knowing before you go in and find a plain galleried box - the point is the light and the proportion rather than any display. Grinling Gibbons carved the limewood reredos and the marble font.
Recitals run at lunchtime several days a week, free with a suggested donation, usually young professional musicians. Evening concerts are ticketed. The church was gutted in 1940 and rebuilt, so what you hear it in is a careful reconstruction of Wren's room rather than the original fabric.
