The ground floor is a proper bar specialising in bourbon and American craft beer, with the wallpaper and the chandeliers to match. The room above it holds two hundred and is the point: small enough that the band are at eye level, well enough run that people buy tickets on the venue's name rather than the act's.
It is the size of room where a band plays once on the way up and never again, which is the argument for going on a night you have not heard of.
