The Last Ship

Sting's musical about the Wallsend shipyard he grew up beside.

At Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Sting wrote it out of Wallsend, the shipbuilding town he grew up in and wanted to leave: a yard facing closure and the community built around it. He plays Jackie White, the foreman whose health fails as he is most needed, and his own songs - Island of Souls, All This Time, When We Dance - are worked into the score. A company of more than fifty. Shaggy co-stars as the Wallsend Ferryman on 22 and 23 September only.
