An Evening of Unnecessary Detail at the Cambridge Theatre

The science variety bill scaled up to a West End house for one night.

Science & nature

Festival of the Spoken Nerd is the science comedy show built by stand-up mathematician Matt Parker, experiments maestro Steve Mould and songwriter Helen Arney, who have been putting live demonstrations, songs and maths in front of theatre audiences since 2010. The West End edition puts comedians, singers, scientists and assorted specialists on a bill together: Bec Hill, Rachel Williams, Ted Hill, Anjana Khatwa, Robin Hayward, Jon Harvey and the cast of the musical The Cambridge First All-Ladies Fire Brigade. A demonstration that works on a club stage has to be rebuilt to read from the back of a West End house, so the show is bigger here than the one the podcast made its name with. Suitable for 14 and over.
