The festival began in 1986 and returns for its fortieth year with the strongest bill it says it has ever put on: Ronnie Scott's, Alfie's Jazz Club, the Jack Solomons Club, the Archer Street Club, Sucre and its downstairs room, the Piano Bar at Red Room Studios, Cafe Boheme, Sophie's and Outernet, all inside a patch of Soho you can cross end to end in ten minutes. That is the point of it - you move between rooms through the evening rather than sitting in one.

A day pass is £35 on the Wednesday and Thursday and £55 on the Friday and Saturday; the All Access pass is £95 for all four nights and every room, with priority entry. Every pass is issued in a name and photo ID is checked on the door, which is how the festival keeps its tickets at face value. The full programme is on its own site.
