Two days of pickling, brining and fermenting on the canal at Hackney Bridge, and the first festival London has given the subject.
FestivalFood & drink
Thirty-odd traders in the sheds and the yard: Eaten Alive, The Pickle House, Sexy Pickles, Sylt, Fermary, Cornish Sea Salt, and the Spanish larder Brindisa. Chefs including Gizzi Erskine, Kenji Morimoto and Jay Morjaria do demonstrations, restaurants on site cook special menus, and there are cocktails built on brine rather than around it.
Hackney Bridge is a covered yard of food units and workshops beside the Lee Navigation, so it is part indoors and part not - dress for the weather. Saturday runs 11:30 to 16:30 and then again from 17:30 to 22:30 with DJs and drag, which is over-18s only; Sunday is 12:00 to five. Ticketed, and the food is bought on the day rather than included.
Sat 11.30-4.30 and 5.30-10.30 (over-18s only in the evening); Sun 12-5
