Fortnum & Mason has sold tea since 1707 and this is the room where it pours it: a salon on the fourth floor in the shop's own eau-de-nil green, reached by the staircase that winds up through the middle of the building.
It opened on 1 March 2012, named for the Diamond Jubilee, and Elizabeth II came to open it herself with the then Duchess of Cornwall and the then Duchess of Cambridge - the first official engagement the three of them made together, and the reason the room has the name it does.
The classic tea is sandwiches, scones and cakes with the run of Fortnum's own teas, of which there are a great many and the staff will steer you; a savoury version and a high tea with a hot course sit above it.
