The title plays on the pipe that Magritte labelled "Ceci n'est pas une pipe", and on Foucault's essay about it. Paintings, gouaches, works on paper, sculpture and photography from every period of Magritte's career hang alongside later artists who took up his quarrel between picture and caption, John Baldessari among them. It falls in the ninetieth year since the International Surrealist Exhibition in London made Magritte's name outside Belgium. Free.
