The Showroom

A small commissioning gallery in Marylebone with a long record of showing artists before anyone else.

Public galleryFree

Also in Museums.

The Showroom has commissioned new work since 1983, first in Bethnal Green and since 2009 on Penfold Street, and its list of first London shows - Mona Hatoum, Simon Starling, Eva Rothschild, Jim Lambie, Wolfgang Tillmans's first UK institutional show - is out of proportion to its size. Two rooms in a former warehouse, with a programme built around the neighbourhood as much as the art world.
