White Cube Bermondsey

Jay Jopling's 58,000 square feet on Bermondsey Street, the largest commercial gallery space in Europe when it opened.

Commercial galleryFree

A 1970s warehouse turned in 2011 into three exhibition spaces, an auditorium and a bookshop around a courtyard, big enough to stage the kind of show a museum would: Gormley, Kiefer, Tracey Emin and Theaster Gates have all filled it. The North Galleries take one artist at a time and the smaller 9 x 9 x 9 room is a cube of exactly that size. Free, and quiet on a weekday.
