Donutelier Charing Cross Road

Doughnuts finished by hand behind a window, in a room lit by chandeliers shaped like piping bags.

Doughnuts built like pâtisserie rather than like doughnuts: a ganache or Chantilly filling piped in, then a sablé disc, a macaron ring, toasted meringue or crisp raspberries set on top by hand. Rochers Gianduja, Dulcey Pecan, Berry Macaron, Lemon Meringue and a Vanilla Cookie Cream built on an Oreo, £6 to £6.50 each. The dough is made on the premises and fried three times a day. This is the shop with the decoration theatre: a glazed workroom you can watch from the pavement while the doughnuts are piped, glazed and decorated, and the chandeliers inside are modelled on a pâtissier's piping bag.
