Ben Twiston-Davies's memorial of 2012 marks the sixtieth year of The Mousetrap, which opened at the Ambassadors and moved next door to the St Martin's Theatre in 1974, the longest run in the world. The book stands open on its spine with her profile in relief, and the titles of the novels are lettered along the pages; the theatre where the play still asks its audience to keep the secret is a few yards up West Street. She wrote sixty-six detective novels, and the play's twist is not in this note.
