Copains Covent Garden

Parisian gluten-free viennoiserie, and croissants that actually flake.

Dedicated gluten-free

Copains bakes without wheat at all, which puts the weight on the viennoiserie: lamination is a gluten trick, and layers that shatter rather than crumble are the problem most gluten-free bakeries never take on. Croissants, brioche and babka, then tarts, cookies, loaf cakes and cold-pressed juice, and filled focaccia and baguettes to take away — a sandwich being the thing a coeliac usually cannot buy.

It is a small shop on Neal Street, in the middle of Seven Dials.

The same bakery has a shop in Islington, and it began in Paris.
