Lanes & alleys
The way in is a slot barely wide enough for two people, between shops on Oxford Street; through it the noise stops and a lane opens out with tables down the middle, festoon lights above and flower baskets on the walls. The buildings are 1870s, marked St Christopher's Buildings, and were slum housing before a 1950s campaign turned them into shops. It runs through to Wigmore Street at the far end.
