Truefitt & Hill

Founded in 1805 and recognised as the oldest barbershop in the world, still shaving with a straight razor.

Truefitt dressed hair for George III's court and the firm has held a royal warrant almost continuously since. The shop is panelled, quiet, and run on appointments; a traditional wet shave takes about three quarters of an hour.

The shaving creams and the Ultimate Comfort range are sold worldwide, but the point of coming here is the chair.
