International Culture

The national cultural institutes and diaspora cultural centres that keep a public door in London, with the libraries, galleries, film programmes and language classes they run, and the international festivals that return to the same ground each year. Much of what they put on is free.

Goethe-Institut London

Germany's cultural institute on Exhibition Road, with a library anyone can borrow from and a programme that runs to film and argument.

The Goethe-Institut is Germany's cultural body abroad, and the London branch sits on Exhibition Road between the museums. The library lends German books, films, magazines and language material and is open to anyone; the programme runs to screenings, exhibitions, readings and panel discussions, a good deal of it in English and a good deal of it free. Language courses are the other half of the building's work.
