The best parks and green spaces in London, for a sunny day and for a cold wet one: there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.
A spa town's twelve wells, now a Green Flag park with the springs still running.

The water here was found to be medicinal in the 1640s and made Sydenham a spa. Twelve wells were opened; John Evelyn came in 1675 and wrote of medicinal spa waters at a place called Sydnam Wells, much frequented in summer, and the crowds who followed included George III. All twelve were still there in 1810.
The park was made in 1901, after a campaign to stop the ground being built on. Some of the old wells are inside it and the springs still run, which is what the water features are fed by. There are formal gardens and old trees, a sensory garden planted for scent and touch as much as for looking at, a small nature reserve, tennis courts and two playgrounds.
