Historic interior
Built in 1880 as part of Bedford Park, the first garden suburb, and welcomed by the Bedford Park Gazette in the hope that it would stop the estate's workmen buying their drink elsewhere. The tiling is by William De Morgan and Walter Crane, and there are Arts and Crafts mirrors and pictures with it.
The sign swinging outside is a copy. T. M. Rooke painted the original in 1880; it turned up during the work of 2016, was conserved, and Greene King gave it to the Bedford Park Society. It hangs in the upper parish hall of St Michael's across the road, so if you want to see the real one you have to leave the pub.
Four areas inside: two bars, a dining area and a snug. Ten handpumps, usually one of them a cider.
