Historic interior
The building is about 1826, from when Windsor Castle could genuinely be seen from the top of Campden Hill. The panelled oak screens that cut it into small rooms are not that old, and this is the part usually got wrong: they are a refit of 1933, and so are the names on the doors.
There are three small bars reached from the street - the Campden Bar at the front centre with a door of its own, the Private Bar on the corner and the Sherry Bar at the rear left, both off Peel Street - and the Ordinary Bar to the right. The counter is C-shaped, with a matchboard front and carved mahogany shelving; the benches are fixed and pew-like; a ceiling beam carries corbels carved as bunches of grapes; and in the Sherry Bar a painting of Windsor Castle is set into the panelling above an arched brick fireplace. The first floor still has its 1820s plan of small bedrooms off a landing.
There is a beer garden at the back with a bar of its own.
